US Census Data: Fort Worth’s Population Boom Continues

The fastest growing cities in the United States are in the West and South, and the city where the West begins remains a leader in that growth.
Fort Worth ranked third in the nation in terms of added residents with 12,916 from 2020 to 2021, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Our brother to the south, San Antonio, added 13,626, the most in the United States at that time. Phoenix was next at 13,224.
Despite the increase, Fort Worth slipped in the ranking of the nation’s most populous cities. We are now back at 13ewith 935,508. Since 2010, the city’s population has increased by 25%.
Five of the nation’s 15 most populous cities are in Texas, including Dallas, which lost 14,777 residents. Of the 15 fastest growing cities, eight are in Texas and four in Dallas-Fort Worth: Fort Worth, Frisco, Denton, and McKinney.
Georgetown, Texas had the highest growth rate from July 2020 to July 2021, increasing by 10.5%, a growth rate that would double the population in less than seven years.
Georgetown was followed by Leander, Texas (10.1%); Queen Creek Town, Arizona (8.9%); Buckeye, Arizona (8.6%) and New Braunfels (8.3%).
The sixth fastest growing region was Fort Myers, Florida (6.8%), followed by Casa Grande, Arizona (6.2%); Maricopa, Arizona (6.1%); North Port, Florida (5.5%); Spring Hill, TN (5.4%); Goodyear, Arizona (5.4%); and Port St. Lucie, Florida (5.2%).
